Old World Christmas market

“Elkhart Lake” Has anybody heard of this place before? For me, I hadn’t heard of it but I’m sure car racing fans know about it. This is the home of Road America! 🙂

Fortunately, I had a great opportunity to be there and I have to say it was one of the nicest places that I’ve ever been to.

We stayed at The Osthoff Resort . It has been voted to be the #1 Resort in the Midwest in the annual Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards and also to be included in Midwest Living’s “25 Best Places to Celebrate Christmas. Also Wisconsin Hotel and Association voted Lola, General Manager, to be Innkeeper of the year 2012. From my hotel experiences, I’m not surprised at all. She is really an outstanding GM.

We walked from the hotel to the Old World Christmas market. For me, from a foreigner’s perspective, I wish we really celebrated Christmas. The market made me feel the Christmas spirit! I saw Father Christmas too 🙂

The Old World Christmas Market has been at The Osthoff Resort for 15 years. The market is in a heated tent the size of a football field. You can find not just Christmas ornaments but many more products from Germany, Russia, Turkey, Czech Republic, and Wisconsin. One thing that I like is I don’t have to go out from the heated tent to find food. They have traditional German food, flavored popcorn, local honey, Wisconsin cheese, local beer, German beer, and much more.

Because of this Old Christmas Market, now I know who Krampus is.
